It's no secret that I love oatmeal. It is truly one of my most treasured breakfasts. It is the only thing my husband will eat for breakfast. He's eaten it every morning for breakfast since we got married. Honestly.
One of the best things you can do with your oatmeal is to 'toast it.' Don't you DARE go pouring oats into your toaster, that is not how you do it!
Before you cook your oats as you always do, throw it onto a lightly greased skillet for 3-5 minutes. It heightens the nutty flavor of the oats and just smells great!
I encourage you to try it with a tsp of coconut flakes, 1/2 of a banana, and a dash of vanilla extract. Oh! It's pure heaven.
I must warn you, such a yummy breakfast may result in your having a productive morning. So, beware.
Oh my goodness! I was totally thinking of doing this last night! Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteWe love oatmeal, but we switch to Greek yogurt in the summer. I'd like to try toasting my steel-cut oatmeal before I pop it in the rice cooker for its overnight simmer!
