Southwest-Style Burger

This weekend (Labor Day) marks the "unofficial" end of summer. Grills will be going and the drinks will be a-flowin'!

No need to be sad about summer ending! It means that FALL is right around the corner. Yumm! All I need is a chai latte and some boots and I'm a happy gal. I'm easy to please, really.

Want a different twist to a normal burger for this weekend? Give this recipe a try. I am majorly addicted to having my burgers with a Southwestern twist!

This can be done with any kind of burger you may fancy, may it be angus, turkey, veggie, or salmon! It is soooooooo good.
Make it. And then eat it. And do it now, I say!

Knapkins

Have you ever heard of Knapkins? It's a great website that hosts "Food Duels." It will match up two photos and you get to vote for the one that is yummiest!

So fun! Pop on over there! You may see a few of my photos in the duel!

Oooo! A duel!!! I think I'm going to leave the gun and take the cannoli.

Toasted Oatmeal

It's no secret that I love oatmeal. It is truly one of my most treasured breakfasts. It is the only thing my husband will eat for breakfast. He's eaten it every morning for breakfast since we got married. Honestly.
One of the best things you can do with your oatmeal is to 'toast it.' Don't you DARE go pouring oats into your toaster, that is not how you do it!

Waterproof Mascara

Have you ever underestimated Mother Nature? You look outside, see that it's raining and there are a few bolts of lightning, but eh- you think to yourself- I'm sure it will let up.
Then you proceed to walk to work. There is something so romantic about walking along the city streets on a rainy day.
It is poetic and cleansing.
A walk in the rain is good for the soul.
Without the rain, we might never appreciate the beauty of a cloudless day, or the diversion that a stroll in the garden may provide, for flowers aren't much without rain.
As a true believer of the above, I seldom carry an umbrella.

Whole Wheat Toast with Ricotta, Peach Slices, and Blueberries

There is nothing like eating a delicious breakfast.
There is nothing like eating a delicious breakfast that is good for you!
There is nothing like a delicious breakfast that takes less than two minutes to make.
There is nothing like a delicious breakfast that includes cheese.

Okay, that is enough "there is nothing likes" for one day.

Often times, what makes a great meal is its simplicity. If only it were a good thing for people to be so simple, too! D'oh.

This is a great, simple, and mindless breakfast that is great for those who want to stay full, but not have to eat a ton to remain full. And! Because this won't break your daily caloric budget (if you have one!), you can have this on the side of a nice vegetable omelet. Deelish. Or! You can eat two! Double yum.

An Obsession

I want to talk to you about an obsession I have. No it's not my about my obsession with Gene Kelly- or even Better Homes and Gardens - or, dare I say, Pottery Barn. All are great. All bring me joy. But, these aren't quite the same as my new love.

I have a new obsession and it is called Wasabi Mayonnaise. And you need to make it your new obsession, too.
Make your own. Buy some. Do what ever you have to do to get your hands on summadis.
My favorite way to consume it?

1 piece of whole wheat bread, lightly toasted
2 TBS of the tangy and spicy Wasabi Mayo
2 to 3 big ole slices of homegrown tomatoes
I just want to hide under my desk and eat it.
...Ya know what? On that thought....
